BEWARE!

Beware of advertising about dental treatment that seems too cheap and too good to be true.

The best dentistry comes from dentists who have competence, ethics, use the best equipment, use the best material, and will spend an amount of time that will allow you to make a knowledgeable decision about your treatment.

Therefore, those dental offices which offer cheap prices, especially the placement of implants, often have inexperienced dentists performing the surgery and the restorations, use cheaper equipment, spend less time, and convince you to have additional dentistry.

These adages are often true: cheap is expensive, and if it seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.

Therefore, as a patient, you must balance cost for your dentistry with the need for an ethical and competent dentist.

Many of the advertisements you read on the web for dental malpractice attorneys are from attorneys who litigate medical malpractice, auto, slip and fall, and other personal injury lawsuits, and that dental malpractice litigation is only a small part of their practice. Dental malpractice is a difficult area of litigation, and, in our opinion, you will receive your best representation from attorneys who spend at least 90% of their time litigating dental malpractice lawsuits. It is common sense that the continuous reading and preparing in one area provides more skill, learning, education, and training than spending time in all areas of personal injury.

Recently, a plaintiff in a dental malpractice lawsuit, whose case was near trial, contacted me. He had a fine lawyer, but the lawyer who did not litigate primarily in dental malpractice litigation. Consequently, the deposition of the defendant-dentist was amateurish and one of the plaintiff’s claims of liability was dismissed by the court. Moreover, even though trial was a few months away, the attorney did not have a trial expert.
